Protect the escape route while the survivors make their way into the caves. Buy them as much time as possible. Don't let the machines win this time. The city is completely destroyed, all that remains is scrap and coal within it's limits.
You're gonna have to explore far to get essencial resources. This valley is the last known settlement. It's survivors are the last. They must get away and find another seclude section where the machines still have no presence. Protect their escape.
